Day 1 （第一日）

We left about 7am Wednesday. We wanted to leave much earlier, but we took so long time to finish packing everything. That was the beginning of 10 hours trip. (The actual driving time is about 7 hours) We were nervous about this road trip because our movie players were all broken. How the kids going to do while they are in the car!? Well, to our surprise, they did amazingly. Caleb and Samuel took some good naps. Benjamin and Daniel were talking to each other for hours, entertaining themselves. We also took many short breaks as well. These pictures are from our lunch break. This is in Brunswick, GA. We were looking for a park on the map to take a break. When we got here, we were expecting to see playgrounds, etc. Here's what we got! Living in GA, we learn that "park" sometimes means "a big field". Anyways, it was very pretty place. There were so many ants mounds. There are also lots of wasp nests under the gazebo roof. Kids fed ants P& B sandwiches. There were water lily pads in the ponds. So pretty. There was nobody but us in that big field, a park, I mean.

水曜日の朝７時ごろに出発しました。１０時間ほどのドライブの始まりです。（運転だけだと７時間ほど）本当はもっと早くに出たかったのですが、支度に時間がいっぱいかかってしまいました。実は、このドライブ、子供たちはどうするのだろうかと心配でした。というのも、ｄｖｄプレイヤーが壊れていたので、きっと退屈して大変だろうなあと思ってました。ところが、以外にもみんな楽しんでいました。ちいさいサミュエルやケイラブはよくお昼寝をし、ベンジャミンとダニエルは何時間もべらべらおしゃべりをしていました。この写真は最初のお昼休憩。ジョージアのブランズウィックというところです。地図で、”公園”をさがしていて、その公園にたどりついたのですが、こんな感じです。遊具はありません。（ジョージアでは公園といっても、ただの広場みたいなのが多いです）でも、きれいなところでした。ありがたくさんいました。こどもたちは、風にふかれて飛ばされたお昼のサンドウィッチをありにあげていました。ベンジャミンが立っているところ、あの屋根のところに蜂の巣がいっぱいありました。（もう蜂はいませんでしたが）池には蓮の花が咲いていて、きれいでした。



Here is our next long break, right before we got to Orlando.
This is in Daytona, FL. We were driving along the coastal line, and found this nice park. This park had a playground in it as well! Kids really liked this place, because we could see the Atlantic Ocean!
There were some people fishing at the doc, and kids liked watching them fish. We heard that there are dolphins and manatees come very often. It was very hot and sun shiny!　We were the only people (except for Ben) wearing long sleeves shirts. Obviously, we were not Floridians.

オーランドにつく前に、デイトナというところで休憩しました。海岸沿いを運転していたときにこの公園を見つけました。こんどは、ちゃんと遊具もありまし た！子供たち皆、海が見れてうれしそうでした。また、魚釣りをしているおじちゃんたちがいて、それを見るのもたのしかったみたいです。この場所には、よく イルカやマナティーも来るらしいです。とっても日差しが強くて、暑かったです。私たちだけ長袖。見ただけで、フロリダ人じゃないって感じです。
